Please join me in welcoming our newest ARRI Core Team Member, Mr. David Hamilton.  Dave will be an ARRI representative for the State of Pennsylvania along with Doug Saylor.

Mr. Hamilton, originally from Morgantown, West Virginia, son of Dr. John Hamilton, professor (retired) of wood science in the College of Agriculture and Forestry, West Virginia University, and Mary Jane Hamilton, the best mother a guy could have, joined our team in April to take Paul Yacovone’s place.

While we welcome Dave we also say Good-bye and thanks to Paul Yacovone for all of his work and dedication toward making ARRI a success in Pennsylvania. Thanks Paul!

Dave, following his father’s career in forestry, also enrolled at WVU and undertook a curriculum of Forest Recreation and Forest Management.  He also has a son who recently graduated from WVU with a degree in Forest Resources Management.  Dave graduated in 1973 and went to work for the Bureau of Outdoor Recreation with the Department of the Interior in Atlanta, GA.  At the time, he worked in the same office as Roger Calhoun and Fred Klimas, and the same agency as Art Abbs, and Gene Krueger.  He then joined OSM in the Charleston Regional Office in the summer of 1978.  He worked on grants and the AML program until being transferred to Harrisburg in 1982.  In Harrisburg, Dave continued his work on grants, AML and regulatory programs.  Currently he has primary responsibility of the oversight of PA’s regulatory program, citizen complaints and Ten-Day Notices, program amendments and preparing the yearly oversight report.

Since 1994, he has been the Pennsylvania Appalachian Clean Streams Program (ACSP) coordinator and has had much success implementing Clean Streams efforts.  Unfortunately the ACSP ended with the AML reauthorization in December of 2006.  However, since 1999, through the Watershed Cooperative Agreement Program (WCAP), Dave has been fortunate enough to work with dozens of non profit watershed groups, county, State and Federal agencies dedicated to cleaning up Pennsylvania watersheds from the effects of abandoned coal mine drainage.

With him, Dave brings his valuable experience working as the PA Coordinator of the ACSP initiative as its beginnings have been frequently paralleled with ARRI.

Welcome aboard Dave!
