MARYLAND REFORESTATION RESEARCH
provided by:

Dr. Keith N.
Eshleman is presently an associate professor in the University
of Maryland, Center for Environmental Science based at
Appalachian Laboratory in Frostburg, Maryland. Trained as a
hydrologist with an M.S. degree in civil engineering and a Ph.D.
in water resources from M.I.T., Dr. Eshleman and his research
team conduct experimental studies of water distribution,
movement, and quality, primarily on small watersheds in the
eastern United States.
The majority of Dr. Eshleman's research
projects has focused on the measurement and modeling of human
and natural modifications of hydrological processes at the
watershed scale.
Examples include recent field-based research
projects on: (1) watershed acidification, (2) effects of forest
disturbances on nitrogen transport and transformation, and (3)
exacerbation of stormflow responses of lands subjected to
surface mining and reclamation practices.
Dr. Eshleman has
published more than 40 peer-reviewed articles during his career
and recently co-authored an undergraduate hydrology textbook
entitled "Elements of Physical Hydrology".
